The purpose is to ensure safe and reliable operation of the bridge by replacing aging and obsolete components with modern equivalents or approved alternatives. Vendors may propose alternative components, but these must meet or exceed the minimum specifications of the recommended items and be approved by the Department of Transportation. Installation will be performed by others; the selected vendor will only be responsible for sourcing and delivering the components.
