Renovation of a retail development in Clay Center, Kansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 5,800-square-foot, one-story above grade retail development.
Scope of work: removal of existing 35 windows and doors, removal of existing concrete at north platform, termination and relocation of mechanical units at the north platform, relocation of the exposed roof downspouts to the north elevation, modifications to existing roof for drainage, provide and install new fiberglass cornices, demolition of existing storefronts on Lincoln and 4th streets, construction of new storefronts, installation of decorative columns at the new storefronts, installation of new motorized storefront awnings, installation of new wood entry doors and transoms, metal door and grilles, tuckpointing the existing brick at the north wall, new energy efficient fixed windows, repair existing stucco, concrete slab at north platform to include new sub-base, and installing a concrete curb between the building and sidewalks. Community Development Block Grant Commercial Rehabilitation Project Project Identification: Nelson Building, Phase 1 - Exterior Building Envelope Renovation 1. Project Location: 401-403 Lincoln Avenue, Clay Center, KS 67432 Information for Bidders: Each bidder must deposit with their bid a security in the amount, form and subject to the conditions provided in the Information for Bidders. Attention of bidders is called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and Federal prevailing wage rates to be paid under the contract, Section 3 of the 1968 Housing Act, Segregated Facility, Section 109 of the 1984 Housing and Community Development Act and Executive Order 11246, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This agreement is for services related to a project that is subject to the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act, 41 USC 8301 note, and all applicable rules and notices, as may be amended. Absent an approved waiver, all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in this project must be produced in the United States, as further outlined by the Office of Management and Budget's Memorandum M-24-02, "Implementation Guidance on Application of Buy America Preference in Federal Financial Assistance Programs for Infrastructure." Contractor shall include Manufacturer's Certification for BABA requirements for all BABA-covered items to be incorporated into the infrastructure project. Contractor shall comply with BABA requirements, including coordination with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers to correct deficiencies in any BABA documentation. For any change orders, Contractor shall provide BABA documentation for any new products or materials required by the change. Contractor shall designate the responsible parties for determining the final categorizations for all project items. No bidder may withdraw their bid within 30 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. Project Description: The facility, constructed around 1890, is a 2 story building containing approximately 5,800 SF per floor. Phase 1 exterior renovations will include improvements to the building envelope to include: patching/repair and repainting existing stucco; new storefronts at the northwest and southern elevations; new energy efficient windows to include doors, relocating roof drainage to the north alley, replacement of roof overflow gutter and downspout, repointing/cleaning of the existing brick wall; and new concrete pavement at the north elevation. An ADA accessible entry will be provided. The building's asbestos has not been abated. The existing transite flue, located on the north side of the building, is assumed to contain category II nonfriable asbestos material. The Contractor will be responsible for removal of this pipe.
