The City of Richmond is accepting bids for general contracting services for the Cary Street Rd & Malvern Ave Signal Upgrade Project, which includes but may not be limited to the installation of traffic signal poles, foundations, mast arm poles, conduits, junction boxes, traffic signal heads, pedestrian signal indicators (countdown), signage, sidewalk, wheelchair ramps, pavement markings, and other traffic-related equipment. The purpose of the project is to replace existing traffic signal assets at the designated intersection to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency for motorists and pedestrians, and to extend the service life of the traffic control device infrastructure. The project will involve the complete removal of outdated or failing signal equipment and the installation of a new, modern traffic signal system that meets current MUTCD and state standards. Work will include, but is not limited to: 1. Traffic Signal System: Installation of new signal poles, mast arms, signal heads, pedestrian signals, pushbuttons, controller cabinet, detection systems, and all associated wiring, conduit, and foundations 2. ADA Improvements: Construction of new wheelchair-accessible curb ramps and upgrades to pedestrian facilities to meet current accessibility requirements. 3. Pavement Work: Restoration of disturbed pavement, sidewalk, and curb areas; installation of new conduit runs and pull boxes; and resurfacing as needed for a smooth, durable roadway surface. 4. Pavement Markings and Signing: Reinstallation of lane markings, crosswalks, stop bars, and associated traffic control signs to ensure proper guidance and visibility. 5. Electrical Service: Coordination with the utility provider to establish or upgrade service connections to the new traffic signal cabinet, including grounding and electrical protection
