Site work for a water / sewer project in Salem, New Jersey. Working plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Contract work consists of constructing approximately 12,000 linear feet of earthen embankments at the Oldmans Dredged Material Placement Facility using roughly 564,200 cubic yards of existing dredged materials from within the 290-acre site. Material must be excavated, moisture conditioned, compacted in lifts, and final graded to meet all required lines and grades. Work requires extensive earthmoving capability and expertise with fine-grained soils that are highly sensitive to moisture and may restrict operations during wet or freezing conditions. The contractor must manage challenges such as seepage into excavations, softening of subgrades, and loss of soil strength, and must employ prudent earthwork methods including disking, stockpile management, positive drainage, controlled construction traffic, drying periods, and protection of exposed subgrades. The project also includes installation of three steel sluice structures and associated 30-inch steel outfall pipes, which will be furnished by the Government. A licensed Geotechnical Engineer is required to evaluate subsurface data and support preparation of work plans. The period of performance is 550 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. Location: Oldmans Dredged Material Placement Facility, Salem County, New Jersey. The estimated period of performance is 550 calendar days from Notice to Proceed (NTP).
