Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Palmer, Massachusetts. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility.
Proposed plan for a future intercity passenger rail station serving the Town of Palmer and surrounding communities that will enhance mobility and connectivity, support local planning goals, and drive economic development. The potential station would be served by Compass Rail trains, namely the West-East Rail corridors of the Inland Route and the Boston & Albany Corridor. The project will propose a location for a future intercity passenger rail station in the Palmer area and develop a conceptual design. As of October 9, 2025, this project is in the planning and design study phase and it should be completed by the end of the calendar year. Currently, the study is completing preliminary design (10%), with no funding committed for subsequent phases. An engineer has not been selected. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined.
