Renovation of a municipal facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Contractor agrees to provide to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) all labor, tools, materials, equipment, supplies, parts, permits, fees, travel, vehicles, disposal/recycling of waste, and incidentals necessary to upgrade the existing Carrier Variable Air Volume (VAV) system, and replace existing exhaust fans. The DVBE Participation Program applies, and a three percent (3%) participation is required for this IFB. Q&A: 10/22/25 5:00 p.m Extended Q&A from 10/20/25, As per addendum 1. Questions regarding this IFB must be submitted. Bidders must submit their questions via e-mail to laura.heberle@dot.ca.gov. A. Variable Air Volume System Contractor shall furnish and install 98 Carrier 35E VAV controls with Carrier i.Vu controls, to replace the existing VAV controls. See Attachment A, As-Builts for Existing Variable Air Volume (VAV) System. Once installed, Contractor shall test all systems to verify systems are working within design specifications - including hot water actuators and hot water valves (only exterior VAVs have heat- approximately 45 of the 98). See Attachment B, Carrier Equipment Information. B. Plumbing 1) Contractor shall furnish and install 100 one-half inch (1/2") ball valves to replace existing gate valves. 2) Contractor shall furnish and install 50 of each of the following: one-half inch ( 1/2 ") inline strainers (cleans water) and circuit setters (modulates water flow), using steel braided hoses. 3) Contractor shall furnish and install 50 one-half inch ( 1/2 ") three-way water valves with modulating actuator to work with Carrier controls (allows hot water to run though, water not being directed to building goes back to heating loop). 4) Contractor shall remove and properly dispose of all replaced parts and any waste generated during upgrade activities. C. Rooftop Exhaust Fans 1) Contractor shall remove and properly dispose of four (4) existing obsolete rooftop exhaust fans. See Attachment C, Exhaust Fans Information Sheet. 2) Contractor shall furnish and install replacement exhaust fans with fans that meet the current industry standard (see Item 8 below), with the horsepower (hp) and voltages as described below, and in Attachment C, Exhaust Fans Information Sheet. a) Two (2) - Exhaust fans with one-eighth (1/8) hp, voltage 115/208-230 (to be verified by Contractor) b) One (1) - Exhaust fan with one-fourth ( 1/4 ) hp, voltage 115/208-230 (to be verified by Contractor) c) One (1) - Exhaust fan with one (1) hp, voltage 115/208-230 (to be verified by Contractor) 3) After new exhaust fans are installed, Contractor shall verify that the exhaust fans are functioning properly.
