Site work and paving for a civil project in Nichols, New York. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This project mills and resurfaces I86 from the bridge over the Susquehanna River to the bridge over Wappasening Creek, approximately one mile east of Exit 62, in the village of Nichols, Tioga County. Additional work includes new guide railing installation, ground-mounted sign structure upgrades, and new pavement markings. SAFETAP (Safety Appurtenance Program) items will also be addressed as resources allow. NYSDOT Region: 09 Southern Tier Construction is expected to be completed in Summer 2027. As of October 15, 2025, the project is in Conceptual status. Anticipated letting Year is 2026. NYDOT : I86 Resurfacing, Susquehanna River to Exit 62, Town/village of Nichols, Tioga County *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
