Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Brookhaven, New York. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel.

The work consists of replacing the existing bridge carrying William Floyd Parkway (CR-46) across Narrow Bay with a new high-level fixed bridge constructed to the west of the existing structure, with a minimum 75-year service life. The existing bridge will be demolished after the new bridge is complete. The new structure will include one 11-foot lane in each direction, two 4-foot wide shoulders, and a 12-foot wide protected shared-use path. Additional work includes park restoration, landscaping, traffic signal replacement, pavement markings, drainage improvements, curb ramp replacement to meet PROWAG and MUTCD compliance, and waterfront access. Work will be performed using barge mounted equipment for deep water and temporary work trestles for shallow water, with temporary cofferdams for pier foundation installation. The navigation channel and existing drawbridge are to remain operational during construction of the new bridge. Bids must be submitted in a separate sealed envelope with a certified check or bid bond for not less than five percent of the total Base Bid. Bidders must be registered with the NYSDOL and the Suffolk County Department of Public Works Purchasing Unit website. All construction projects over $250,000 are subject to OSHA 10 safety training requirements, and apprenticeship program requirements. Federal, state, and local requirements apply, with federal rules taking precedence unless state or local rules are stricter.
