Machine mowing of highway/roadway/street right-of-way must be performed on designated areas where vegetation exists beyond the shoulder or pavement edge(s) of the roadway. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and materials required to properly complete the mowing cycles according to the schedules, specifications, and directions given by the Public Service Department. The contractor must perform mowing in accordance with a provided mowing schedule, which designates areas and required cycles. The department reserves the right to change the number of cycles. The mowing must be conducted following certain procedures including maintaining a minimum cutting height, ensuring equipment is in safe and good working condition, and avoiding damage to public or private property. The contractor must notify the Street Supervisor before starting and after completing a mowing cycle. All mowing operations must be performed during daylight hours, and the contractor must avoid leaving grass clippings on roadways, sidewalks, or trails. Equipment is to be parked well off the pavement when not in use and not to interfere with sight distance for the traveling public. The contractor is responsible for ensuring all employees are qualified, for adhering to equipment safety features, and for repairing damage caused to property during mowing at no cost to the City. The City can make changes within the general scope of the contract with written notice and may require the performance of extra work or decrease the quantity of work. All price increases for contract extensions must be justified and mutually agreed upon in writing. Assignment of the contract to another party requires prior written consent from the City.
