Renovation of an educational facility in Lawrence, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The Gateway District at KU is a transformational project at the corner of Fambrough Drive and Mississippi Street and Memorial Stadium. The second phase (Phase 2) includes renovations to the south and east portions of the stadium, parking, plaza and infrastructure to fully complete the overhaul of David Booth Memorial Football Stadium. As part of Phase 2, the Gateway Project will also include the development of multi-use facilities to be used throughout the year to generate revenue for academic programming and student success, and the mixed-use residential, hotel, office, retail, and other commercial uses that support economic development and the University's academic mission The project is included in the state's 2027 - 2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of October 24, 2025, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
