The Lake County Division of Transportation is proposing a 3-lane roadway section to improve traffic flow and reduce rear end collisions by adding a middle turn lane. The project also includes a path connecting the path currently under construction at the intersection of Wadsworth Road and Lewis Avenue and extending it east across Sheridan Road, improving mobility and access to Illinois Beach State Park. The design team will look to improve storm water management though the corridor by upgrading the storm sewer and adding storm water detention. The project will include a resurfacing of Wadsworth Road between Green Bay Road and Lewis Avenue. The project is included in the County's 2025-2030 Transportation Improvement Program. As of November 26, 2025, the project has now moved into Phase 2, where permits will be secured, detailed construction plans will be prepared and the land acquisition process will begin. Construction of this improvement is currently programmed for 2027, pending funding availability, right-of-way acquisition and project readiness. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
