Completed plans call for the addition of a 3,500-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

East Bernstadt Independent Elementary School Addition & Renovation Construct a 3,500 SF (Base Bid) addition to the existing Elementary School Gymnasium to replace the outdoor courtyard area adjacent to the existing Administration office to create a new entry Lobby with a single standard elementary classroom space, a small office space, (2) Resource Rooms, and a custodial closet / storage space. Exterior walls shall be load-bearing masonry wall construction with brick veneer and cast stone / limestone accents to match the existing building construction. In addition to the load bearing masonry there are also supplemental structural columns and beams to support the roof structure. The interior walls and finishes include painted smooth-face CMU with acoustical ceiling tiles and a combination of floor finishes including porcelain tile in the corridors and solid vinyl tile in the instructional spaces. The roof system is a single-ply, fully adhered TPO membrane roofing system over a protection board, polyisocyanurate insulation, and metal decking on steel bar joints and a portion over structural metal deck supported by columns and beams. The HVAC system will be a primary fan coil unit with roof top energy recovery unit and ceiling mounted cassette units with supplement mini-split A/C units. Minimal site work includes demolition of the existing courtyard area and adjacent side walks to allow for the new addition and new side walks / front concrete patio area along the new addition to serve multiple building access points. There will be bid alternates involving construction including the replacement of the existing cornice work around the north elevation of the existing Gymnasium; replacement of the wood trim around the existing north entry doors to the Gymnasium; and removal of an existing canopy above an existing Gymnasium door. There are multiple bid alternates for Owner preferred items to provide continuity with the existing building systems. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. Bids received after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids will be returned unopened to the bidders. Any bids not submitted on the proper form shall not be considered. Successful bidder shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract Time. Work is subject to liquidated damages. Successful bidders will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds. The bond shall cover the entire base bid cost and any accepted alternates.
