As of April 10, 2026, this project has been awarded and construction is underway. Bordeaux Construction, selected as the Construction Manager by the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), is accepting subcontractor bids for the UNCW Coastal Marine Studies PM&E Renovations project The UNCW Coastal Marine Studies PM&E Renovations project consists of Selective demolition of existing plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and associated architectural/structural elements. Fire protection modifications, including extensions of the existing water-based fire suppression system, seismic bracing, and related components. Mechanical (HVAC) systems, including new air handling units (modular and custom), fan coil units, chillers, hydronic piping, pumps, energy recovery systems, ductwork, controls, insulation, laboratory airflow/temperature control systems, and full testing, adjusting, and balancing. Electrical systems, including new power distribution for mechanical equipment, lighting modifications, low-voltage communications cabling, grounding and bonding, raceways, identification, and transfer switches. Architectural and structural support work required to complete MEP renovations, including limited structural modifications, roof penetrations, partitions, ceilings, firestopping, joint sealants, and finish restoration. Commissioning and closeout of all new and modified MEP systems, including record drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and necessary owner's training.
