The contractor shall furnish and deliver one (1) box culvert with a 9' span by 6' height, one (1) line at 46'-9", skewed as shown on provided attachments. Standard sections are to be five (5') long, each with male and female ends. Rubber or plastic plugs shall be included to close lifting holes in the top slab after erection. No other configuration or extra charges are allowed. Specifications require the precast box culvert sections to be waterproofed with epoxy-resin compound and aggregate in accordance with Section 416 of the 2020, or latest edition, VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications. The contractor must waterproof the entire top surface and a portion of both side walls extending twelve (12") from the top corners of each section. Waterproofing must terminate six (6") from the bell and spigot end. The bell and spigot are not to be waterproofed. Shop drawings for review by VDOT are required within five (5) business days after award and before fabrication. The box culvert must be constructed in accordance with ASTM Standard C1577-20, 0 to 2 feet fill, HL-93 Design Tandem live load conditions, and Section 302 of 2020 VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications with specified additions and exceptions. There are specific requirements for concrete cover over reinforcing steel. Instructions to bidders include adhering to all solicitation instructions, ensuring balanced bid pricing, and submitting all required bid documents and fillable attachments. Attachments include forms for VA State Corporation Commission, normal and emergency contacts, manufacturer and shipping point, and plastic materials recycled content. Bidders are reminded to read and follow all instructions and to ensure all documents are complete and uploaded with their bid submission. No pre-bid conference will be held, but questions may be submitted for clarification.
