The City of Newton, Iowa is seeking competitive quotations for the construction of the public improvement hereafter described. Contractors qualified to perform the work and able to obtain the required performance and payment bond are invited to submit competitive quotations, pursuant to the requirement of Section 26.14 of the Iowa Code. 1. Description of the Public Improvement Work to be Performed Pursuant to This Solicitation. The public improvement work for which the city is seeking competitive quotations is generally described as follows: Clarifier Painting Project: Newton Waterworks is requesting quotations form qualified contractors to provide labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete surface preparation and painting of a clarifier, with pricing for handrails and walkways. Performance and Payment Bond Required. The contractor who is awarded the contract to perform the work shall be required to provide a performance and payment bond, in the form provided by the City, to secure the performance and timely completion of the work and to secure the payment of subcontractors and suppliers, as required by Section 573.2 of the Code. Contractors submitting quotations pursuant to this RFQ shall be required to commit to the completion of the work on or before March 15, 2026 Bid date notes: If a competitive quotation is delivered by U.S. Mail or by in-hand delivery, it shall be placed in a sealed envelope addressed as stated above. Competitive quotations received after the time stated above will not be considered and the quoting contractor will be so notified. Newton Waterworks is requesting quotations from qualified contractors to provide labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete surface preparation and painting of a clarifier, with pricing for handrails and walkways. The Work shall include, but is not limited to: - Surface preparation and coatings in accordance with the specified coating system. - Clarifier dimensions are approximately 50 ft x 50 ft. - Handrails: approx. 200 linear feet. - Walkways: approx. 100 linear feet. - All work shall comply with applicable safety and environmental regulations. These specifications cover surface preparation, cleaning, and application of protective coatings for the Newton Waterworks Clarifier, including work on handrails and walkways.
