**As of December 2nd, 2025, the project was awarded to Gehring Construction & Ready-Mix with an awarded amount of $1,897,618.10.** Concrete Paving Improvements 2026 SCOPE OF WORK This work covered by this Article 4 of the specifications consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, supplies and materials, and in performing all operations in connection with the preparation of subgrade as required and in performing all operations in the connection with the construction of air-entrained Portland cement concrete pavement. The following recognized standards [State of Nebraska, Department of Roads 2007 Standard Specifications for Highway Construction (NDOR), the American Water Works Association Standards (AWWA), American Standards for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), etc., or the latest revisions thereof] shall apply except as hereinafter provided. All specifications included in this Article 4 will pertain except that special notations on the plans, in the "Special Provisions", or in the "General Provisions", shall have precedence. 4.2 SITE PREPARATION 4.2.1 CONCRETE SAWING The Contractor shall exercise due care in breaking concrete to be removed and shall be responsible for any damage caused by such breaking and removal. In removing existing pavement, sidewalks, driveways, and similar items where a portion of such items is to be left in place, the removal shall be extended to the limits shown on the plans or to an existing joint as directed by the City Engineer. In the event the City Engineer does not consider it practical to extend the limit of removal to an existing joint, the line of removal shall be scored with a concrete saw to a depth of at least two (2) inches prior to breaking out the concrete. When the contract contemplates placing an asphaltic concrete surface, sawing may be omitted. In any event, connecting edges shall be cut and chipped to true vertical faces.CLEARING AND GRUBBING Except for the trees, shrubs, and grasses which are to be preserved as indicated on the plans or as designated by the City Engineer, all trees, stumps, hedges, shrubs, weeds, grasses, other herbaceous vegetation, and rubbish shall be removed from the right-of-way and from borrow pits furnished by the contracting authority. This work shall be classified as follows: 1) Clearing shall consist of the cutting, removal, and disposal of trees six (6) inches or less in diameter. 2) Grubbing shall consist of the removal and disposal of stumps, including roots. 3) Weed and rubbish removal shall consist of the removal and disposal of all weeds, grasses, other herbaceous vegetation, and all rubbish 4.2.3 REMOVAL OF PAVEMENT This item shall consist of the removal and disposal of plain and reinforced concrete, brick, stone, block, asphalt and shall include base, surface, and cushion courses, if any regardless of the material or materials encountered. Removals include all sidewalks, curb and gutter, curbs, slabs, driveways, streets, and so forth REMOVAL OF CONCRETE HEADER This item shall consist of removing and disposing of the concrete portion of concrete headers previously placed at the open ends of existing pavement, at the locations indicated on the plans, or as required by the City Engineer. Reinforcing bars shall remain in place.
