The intent of this Request for Qualification (RFQ) is to seek statements of qualifications (Responses) from parties (the Respondents) interested in pump, piping, civil and electrical upgrade work for the Marshend pump station upgrade project. More specifically, the intent of this RFQ is to short-list up to five (5), Respondents to participate in a Tender or Request for Proposal to perform this work; however, the Corporation reserves the right to short-list a greater number of Respondents. Metro Vancouver is undertaking a retrofit of the Marshend Pump Station (MPS) which located in the City of Burnaby, originally constructed in 1977, to increase its firm capacity from 800 L/s to 1020 L/s to accommodate projected 2051 Basic Service Flow (BSF) requirements. Key elements of the scope include enhancing reliability and operational flexibility through a full retrofit of the station-introducing new pumps, pipework, electrical systems, and a standby generator; implementing hydraulic upgrades to the existing wet well; constructing a new electrical and Motor Control Centre (MCC) building; and developing architectural roof and cladding features to aesthetically integrate new and existing structures. In addition to seismic couplings, new permanent access road and landscape enhancements integrating native vegetation within the visually sensitive Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park.
