Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Baldwin City, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel.
As of January 29, 2026 the project has been awarded. Douglas County Project 2020-57 is a two-phased project. Phase I involves utilizing the existing roadbed as a shoo-fly while constructing a 16'x10'x31' reinforced concrete box (RCB). In Phase 2, the north wingwalls will be constructed after the RCB is backfilled and surfacing is in place. The project includes clearing and grubbing, removal of existing structures, foundation stabilization, concrete, reinforcing steel, area inlet, cross road pipe, grading, select soil, rip rap, aggregate ditch lining, aggregate surfacing, temporary erosion control, seeding, and traffic control. The project is located on N 640 Road approximately 3 miles west of the intersection of US-59/Route 460. Bidders must submit their bids electronically through the county's purchasing software, with an electronic signature by an authorized representative. Registration as a vendor and bid submission must be done at www.douglascountyks.org/depts/purchasing. The bid must contain all required information, be priced as specified, and submitted by the stipulated deadline. A certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond of no less than five percent (5%) of the base bid must be included as a guarantee for contract entry and bond provision if awarded the contract. This check or bond should be made payable to the Douglas County treasurer. The Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to reject nonconforming bids, waive technicalities, and award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder.
