Demolition, site work, new construction, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Seattle, Washington. Completed plans call for the addition of a 65,000-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the construction of a educational facility; for the renovation of a 140,000-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Build an addition of about 65,000 square feet, and modernize about 140,000 square feet of existing building to provide permanent space for up to 1,000 students in grades 6-8. Work includes hazardous material abatement, demolition, site work, construction of buildings, and off-site improvements to the school, which sits on 4.8 acres at 3928 S. Graham St. Approximately 25,000 square feet of the existing building in the northwest corner will be demolished to make room for a new two story classroom addition. Seattle Public Schools has established the following goals for the Aki Kurose Middle School Modernization and Addition project. Minority Owned Businesses 20% Women Owned Businesses 6% SPS Students/Former Students 4% SPS Wage Earners 10% Economically Distressed Zip Codes - Apprentice 3% Economically Distressed Zip Codes - Journey Worker 7% Women - Apprentice 10% Women - Journey Worker 6% People of Color - Apprentice 30% People of Color - Journey Worker 20% As part of the bid package process, Subcontracting and Workforce Plans will be required to fill out as a good faith effort by interested bidders to achieve these aspirational goals. This Subcontracting and Workforce Plan is a material part of the bid form and subcontract agreement to be executed by the successful responsive, responsible bidder. The plan will require ALL BIDDERS to name the good faith efforts the Bidder will use to include woman-owned firms (WBE), minority-owned (MBE) firms, SPS Priority Hire workers, and SPS Diversity Hire workers on this project. The form provides options for evidencing good faith efforts, each worth points.
