Renovation of a detention facility in Cranston, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

**As of January 5, 2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** Roof Replacement, Maximum Security, High Security, Minimum Security and Industrial Building The roof assemblies at High Security at 1375 Pontiac Ave, Maximum Security at 54 Power Rd, Minimum Security at 16 Howard Ave., and Correctional Industries at 33 Power Rd. Cranston RI., have surpassed their serviceable life and are in need of replacement. RIDOC has spent several thousands of dollars in repairs over the last 5 years which was already passed the life expectancy. The conditions now are no longer repairable. In order to keep the buildings safe and dry the roofs are in need of replacement. Removal and replacement of existing roof assemblies at Maximum to include, but not limited to, vapor barrier, 4" to 12" of insulation, wood fiberboard board, membranes down to concrete deck, curbs, flashing, and edge metal. Removal of (2) existing nonfunctioning rooftop units and infill concrete deck with existing adjacent materials, new roof to be flush with existing. RIDOC is looking to be fully replaced with 2-ply modified bitumen, recovery board and tapered insulation. Removal and replacement of existing roof assemblies at High Security, to include but not limited to 4 ply modified bitumen with gravel, 1/2 " wood fiberboard, 3 ply built up roof, 3 1/2 +- foam glass insulation down to concrete and tectum decking, standing seam metal roof, skylights, curbs, flashing, and edge metal at walls. RIDOC is looking to be fully replaced with 2-ply modified bitumen, recover board, tapered insulation, standing seam metal roof, and skylights. Removal and replacement of existing roof assemblies at Minimum Security, to include, but not limited to, EPDM membrane, wet insulation (see report). RIDOC is looking to be fully replaced with 2-ply modified bitumen, recovery board, and tapered insulation to replace wet areas. Removal and replacement of existing roof assemblies at Correctional Industries, to include but not limited to 3 ply modified bitumen, 2" to 3" insulation down to steel decking, curbs, flashing, and edge metal. RIDOC is looking to be fully replaced with 2-ply modified bitumen, recovery board, and insulation. Must follow State of RI building code and safety measures, OSHA standards, EPA standards, and proper disposal of existing roofs. A plan must be finalized to accommodate the replacement of all roofs no later than June 2026. RIDOC is looking for all roofs to run concurrently to achieve this goal. The scope of work includes but is not limited to complete roof replacement of four facilities, demolition of existing roofings identified per contract documents, installation of new tapered insulation, roof drains and membrane roofing, and smaller curb-mounted skylights.
