Renovation of a municipal facility in Longueuil, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Conversion of the complex, which belonged to the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, including a large convent built in 1744, as well as two heritage houses into municipal office buildings for community organizations. Municipal authorities hope that a review will be undertaken to adapt the building's heritage status. TIMELINE: The project is preliminary. The City of Longueuil is moving forward with the purchase of the Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, at a cost of $9 million; a study commissioned by the City indicates that bringing the building up to code would cost up to $50 million. Scope of work and timelines of the project are being finailzed.
