Site work and new construction of a playground / park / athletic field in Chestertown, Maryland. Completed plans call for the construction of a one-story above grade playground / park / athletic field.

The project consists of constructing an ages 5-12 playground in Margo Bailey Park, located at 400 Schauber Road for the Town of Chestertown, with funding provided by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Greenspace Equity Program. The scope of work includes the installation of a barrier—either vegetative or other—to screen the playground from a nearby dog park. Qualified firms are invited to submit creative design concepts and equipment proposals. Sealed bids must be submitted, and electronic submissions will not be accepted. The Town of Chestertown reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. Theme concepts are welcome. Chestertown has a rich maritime history, active arts community, and cares about preserving the natural environment. Three playgrounds featuring standard playground equipment have been constructed in local parks within the past ten years, and the Town would prefer something other than this for Bailey Park. A variety of active experiences should aim to excite children’s curiosity and desire for adventure, challenge, teamwork, and fun. Innovative nature-oriented designs are welcome, though components must be durable and inexpensive to maintain. Features that emphasize climbing, balance and spatial awareness are encouraged. The playground is adjacent to a residential area, so noise-generating equipment is disallowed.
