The project is for a creative, durable, and visually striking weathervane to be installed on the rooftop of the Bandstand in Capitola's Esplanade Park. The design should be inspired by Capitola's coastal location, cultural heritage, natural beauty, or uniqueness, and may be whimsical, abstract, or representational. The work must be structurally sound, wind- and weather-resistant, suitable for permanent outdoor rooftop installation, and meet all specified technical and ADA requirements. Factors such as wind load, weight, and mounting method must be addressed, and collaboration with engineers or fabricators is allowed. The selected artist's design will require final approval before installation. The public art budget is $5,000, covering all expenses related to design, fabrication, travel, insurance, and transport of materials, with installation coordinated by the City.
