Demolition, site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Claremont, New Hampshire. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel.

THE TOWN OF UNITY, NH is soliciting bids for the Brown Bridge Superstructure Replacement over Little Sugar River. This project proposes to replace the existing one-lane timber deck supported on steel beams with a 16-ft wide one-way reinforced concrete slab superstructure (out-to-out span of 36-ft). Cold Pond Road will be closed during completion of work which includes, but is not necessarily limited to: removal of superstructure (existing guardrail, timber deck and steel beams), potential substructure rehabilitation work (pending inspection of substructure under removed superstructure), installation of new superstructure (form-work, reinforcement, and concrete), compaction and fine grading of approaches to proposed grades, paving approaches and installation of bridge rail and approach guardrail. There is no mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled, however all contractors will be required to sign off that they visited the site. This is an off-season and relatively small project, providing an opportunity for contractors to fill in gaps and utilize crews between construction seasons. The project is to replace the existing failing steel beam supported timber deck superstructure with a one-way reinforced concrete slab superstructure. This new superstructure will safely convey vehicles traveling on Cold Pond Road over the Little Sugar River. The design follows AASHTO HL-93 procedures with design vehicles including Tandem trucks (2~25 Kip axles) and an HS-20 vehicle (8 Kip front with two 32 Kip rear axles). The Town of Unity invites you to submit a bid for the Cold Pond Road Bridge (Brown Bridge) Deck Replacement Project. The project tasks are generally as follows: 1. Install silt fence or silt sock perimeter control down-gradient of proposed construction disturbance. 2. Cut brush and small trees as required for construction access to substructure. 3. Add proper detour signage and close bridge and approach roadway. 4. Remove existing guardrail, existing bridge rail and superstructure from abutments. 5. Schedule an inspection of the exposed substructure surfaces to gain direction on substructure rehabilitation. 6. Excavate existing gravel behind back walls to proper elevation and complete abutment top rehabilitation. 7. Install form-work, reinforcement, pour one-way concrete slab and, when cured, remove forms. 8. Reconstruct gravel approaches, compact and fine grade approaches to proposed grades. 9. Install fascia-mounted bridge rail, guardrail with approach and terminal ends. 10. Areas disturbed and not permanently stabilized with bituminous concrete pavement or gravel shall be topsoiled with humus, seed and mulch. 11. When permanent erosion control measures are installed or established and the site is fully stabilized, remove temporary erosion control measures and all sediment that has been trapped by these devices. All questions shall be directed to the Engineer by 2:00 p.m. December 10th , 2025. All questions will be answered by 2:00 p.m. December 11th , 2025. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
