Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Houghton, Michigan. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The University recently constructed a new parking lot located on 7th Avenue. With this new parking lot, there is increased pedestrian traffic along 7th Avenue with limited shoulder space for them to travel. To help address this problem, MTU is proposing a combination of sidewalks, crosswalks, and stairs to reach Macinnes Drive. In addition to this, the MTU Public Safety department has been relocated and is no longer housed in the green building located on the corner of Macinnes Drive and 7th Avenue. Included in this project is the demolition of this building which will create additional space for sidewalks as needed. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
