ILDOT - 032 - Milling and Resurfacing and All Related Collateral Work Along US Route 150 and IL Route 78 This project involves the removal and replacement of SN 039-0026. Staged construction will be used to maintain traffic for the proposed improvements. The projects improvements include total structure replacement, HMA pavement, shoulders, earthwork, guardrail, etc. This work consists of furnishing all materials, equipment, labor, and other essentials necessary to accomplish the surface preparation and application of thermal spray metallizing to all new structural steel, or portions thereof as detailed in the plans, in the shop. Also included in this work, when specified on the Contract plans, is the application of a paint system over the metallizing in the shop and/or in the field. The purpose of this geotechnical study was to use the provided subsurface information to prepare geotechnical recommendations for the proposed bridge replacement. The project consists of the removal and replacement of an existing 144'-6" three-span bridge on IL 3 over Worthen Bayou. The project site is located approximately 1.2 miles south of IL 149 in Jackson County, Illinois. The existing structure (SN 009-0026) was originally built in 1958 as SBI Route 150, section 130-BY. The new structure (SN 039-0083) will be a two-lane 157'-6" two-span bridge with reinforced concrete decks on 42-inch web girders supported by integral abutments. Staged construction will be utilized during the replacement of the existing bridge. The structure will be designed according to the IDOT Bridge Manual and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. The site location is shown below in Figure 1.1. The TS&L prepared by Quigg Engineering, Inc. (QEI) is attached in Appendix A.
