The Lake George East Phase II Dredging project involves the removal of contaminated sediments from the Lake George Canal (LGC) section of the Indiana Harbor Canal (IHC) through mechanical dredging. The work includes implementing appropriate environmental monitoring and controls to improve sediment quality, water quality, and habitat within the LGC. Sediments in this area contain elevated levels of metals, volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) due to legacy contamination from adjacent and upstream sources. Dredged material will be hydraulically placed into the IHC confined disposal facility (CDF) located adjacent to the LGC. The project may also include sediment sampling at the dredged surface to determine if additional remediation is necessary to meet project goals. Any further remediation, if required, will be addressed under a separate project. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
