Site work and paving for a road / highway in Missoula, Montana. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is accepting bids for Overlay, Chip Seal and Fog Seal Lubrecht West Missoula Area. Additional details regarding the solicitation can be viewed by online. Questions or information relating to either specifications or requirements of this solicitation must be asked via online. Contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials incidentals and traffic control to cold mill approximately 169,018 square yards of roadway at a depth of .15 feet as directed by MDT's project manager. Contractor is responsible for hauling and disposal of all cold millings generated on the project. Contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, incidentals and traffic control necessary to produce, haul, place, tack and compact approximately 16,771 tons of 1/2" Commercial Plant Mix Grade S 64-28 asphalt mix material. The overlay shall be paved .15 feet thick and approximately 43 feet wide. Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, traffic control and incidentals necessary to produce, haul, place, roll and broom approximately 169,018 square yards of laid-in-place chip seal. The chip seal will be approximately 6.60 miles long and 43 feet wide. Contractor shall provide approximately 298.0 tons CHFRS-2P asphalt emulsion and Type 1 chips. Traffic control with pilot cars must be maintained until dusk or fading light each work day as determined by the Project Manager. The emulsion application rate for chip seals is estimated at .41 gallons per square yard. The cover material application rate is estimated at 25 pounds per square yard. Actual application rates will be based on the chip design and the actual field adjustments. If the cover material application rate of 25 pounds per square yard is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. Contractor must furnish a water truck for dust control and wetting of chips. Arrangements must be made by the Contractor for acquiring water for wetting and sweeping. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the centerline and place reflective tabs prior to the chip seal. The Department will provide final striping. Contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, incidentals and traffic control necessary to install approximately 20.10 miles of Sinusoidal rumble strips on the centerline and both shoulders of the roadway and fog seal upon completion of the Chip Seal and rumble strip installation. Contractor shall provide approximately 54 tons of CSS-1H asphalt emulsion diluted at a ratio of 50% oil and 50% water diluted at the supplier. Apply the Fog Seal at an estimated rate of 0.15 gallons per square yard. If the application rate is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. All traffic must be kept off the fog seal until it has cured sufficiently to prevent traffic from tracking the emulsion as determined by the MDT project Manager. This time is estimated to be approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Contractor is responsible for test trailer, transport, and setup. If the Department decides to perform testing at an area lab, this bid item will be deleted from the contract. The quantity is estimated and will be changed accordingly depending on pickup and delivery locations and miles transported. Contractor shall be responsible for all private property damage claims resulting from performance of the tasks described above.
