Project is seismic compliance to achieve Structural Performance Category (SPC) 4D. Both East Wing Tower and Radiology buildings are currently rated SPC 2, which is defined as a building that may not be repairable or functional following a seismic event. A classification of SPC 4D is required to remain as an acute care building beyond January 2030. Project consists of structural retrofit, which could include strategic strengthening of wall cladding panels, existing shear walls, floor slabs, and structural framing. Bidding documents are available only to prequalified bidders, and bids must be accompanied by bid security of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Proposal. The successful bidder must carry insurance policies approved by the University, issued by companies rated Best as A- or better with a financial classification of VIII or better, or have an equivalent rating by Standard and Poor's or Moody's. The successful bidder and its subcontractors must follow the nondiscrimination requirements and pay prevailing wages at the location of the work. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with maximum opportunity to participate. All contractors or subcontractors, regardless of tier, must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations and the project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. Pre-qualification requirements: Only prequalified bidders as listed (Roebbelen Contracting and Swinerton Builders) may submit proposals. Prequalified bidders must attend a mandatory virtual pre-bid conference and an in-person job walk in their entirety. The successful bidder must possess a California "B" - General Building contractor's license at the time of bid opening. Estimated Construction Cost: $850.000.00.
