Site work for a mixed-use development in Abbeville, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a fire / police facility; and water / sewer project.

The Abbeville City Fire Department intends to remove the existing asphalt surface located at the rear of the fire station and replace it with a reinforced concrete pad. The purpose of this project is to provide a durable, stable, long-lasting surface suitable for apparatus traffic and proper stormwater drainage toward the existing drain. Work Area Dimensions - Main pad: Approximately 18 ft. (W) x 44 ft. (L) - Side extension area: Approximately 2 ft. (W) x 13 ft. (L) Total area to be demolished, prepped, and replaced is roughly 830 sq. ft. 3.1 Demolition and Removal - Saw-cut (as needed) and remove all existing asphalt from the work area. - Excavate to appropriate depth to accommodate a 6" concrete slab and any required base preparation. - Haul off and dispose of all asphalt, debris, and unsuitable material in accordance with local regulations. 3.2 Site Preparation - Grade and compact sub-base to ensure a stable foundation for new concrete. - Install and compact additional base material if required for proper elevation, drainage, or stability. - Ensure proper slope toward the existing drain located near the center of the pad. - Form all edges of the new concrete pad according to dimensions listed. 3.3 Reinforcement & Materials - Install rebar reinforcement as needed to meet industry standards for a 6" thick slab supporting vehicle traffic. - Reinforcement shall be properly chaired and tied to ensure correct placement within the slab. - Concrete shall be 4000 PSI with commercial fiber, meeting ASTM standards for exterior vehicle-rated applications. 3.4 Concrete Installation - Place and finish 6" thick, 4000 PSI reinforced concrete over the prepared base. - Ensure proper slope for drainage into the existing drain. - Finish surface to a broom texture suitable for vehicular and foot traffic unless otherwise directed. - Edge and joint the concrete in accordance with standard practices to control cracking. - Apply curing compound or follow equivalent curing procedures. 3.5 Cleanup & Finalization - Remove all forms, debris, and construction materials from the site. - Backfill edges as necessary to ensure safe transitions to adjacent surfaces. - Leave worksite in clean, safe condition.
