Marion County Parks & Recreation Department is seeking the best-qualified contractor to repair the metal grandstands in the front arena at Southeastern Livestock Pavilion. Structural Repairs Contractor shall perform the following structural repairs in accordance with Exhibit A: o Replace (1) vertical angle (Recommendation 1) o Replace bracing angles that bent out of shape, or kinked (Recommendation 2) o Repair broken welds or similar conditions (Recommendation 3) o Replace and tighten fasteners using new stainless steel or galvanized fasteners at periodic intervals of supporting members (Recommendation 5) o All welding shall be performed by certified welders in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards. o All welds shall be inspected by a licensed structural engineer prior to acceptance. o Contractor shall provide a written inspection and repair summary to the Project Manager. Painting o Contractor shall remove all wood seating and decking planks prior to painting and reinstall them with new stainless steel or galvanized fasteners. o Contractor shall replace any damaged wood planks. o Sandblast all steel supporting systems and components in accordance with SSPC-SP6 (commercial blast cleaning) and repaint the structure as identified in Exhibit A - Recommendation 4. o The contractor shall protect all ground and adjacent assets from sandblast debris, remove debris from the site, and dispose of waste materials in compliance with FDEP regulations. o Any damage to adjacent areas or assets caused by negligence during sandblasting shall be repaired at contractor's expense. o Contractor shall prime and paint with industrial grade, exterior-use coatings suitable for structural steel; approved systems include: o Primer - one (1) coat; Rust-Oleum Zinsser(R) Bulls Eye 123 Primer; Gray o Paint - two (2) coats; Sherwin Williams 6454 Shamrock; oil base paint o Contractor shall prime and paint all exposed edges of steel beams, columns, braces and supports. o Contractor shall adhere to all manufacturers' written instructions and recommendations in the technical data sheet for application and minimum dry film thickness. o Contractor shall cover and protect the ground in the immediate work area from paint splatter. o Contractor shall promptly clean up any paint drips or splatters caused by the work. o Work shall not be performed when surfaces are damp, or when adverse weather conditions exist or threaten. o Do not paint light fixtures, fans, signage, wood fencing, electrical panels and conduits, downspouts or arena roof columns. Handrails o Contractor shall remove and dispose of all existing wood and chain-link handrails, including wood planks, angle braces, chain-link fencing, and fasteners. o Contractor shall fabricate and install new 42-inch-high metal handrails that meet the following requirements: o Color: Gray; powder coated o Top rail, bottom rail and posts: 1-1/2" Diameter tubular o Vertical pickets: 5/8" Diameter tubular o Postspacing: 6'-0" O.C. o Material: Steel o Openings: 4" maximum o Connection: Handrail shall be secured to the existing grandstand support structure o Fasteners: Stainless steel or galvanized
