As of December 17, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on December 23, 2025. The City of Metropolis seeks bids for demolition and removal at 612 E 8th St, Metropolis, IL 62960. The work includes demolishing and removing all structures, vehicles, campers, trailers, or similar movable property, and all trash, debris, garbage, and refuse. Basements and cellars must be removed to a depth of two feet below grade, with drain holes drilled in basement floors. Clean concrete may be used for fill. All wells and cisterns must be filled and capped with concrete at 18 inches to 2 feet below grade. Utilities must be capped and marked. All debris that can legally be disposed of at the City transfer station must be disposed of accordingly in compliance with the law. Contractors must provide written documentation for all demolition debris, including hauler contact information, generator information, place of origin, weight or volume, and the location/owner/operator of the disposal facility. The site must be graded, seeded, with straw applied, and additional soil provided by the contractor if required. Disposal and handling of all friable and non-friable asbestos or RACM, or other hazardous materials, is the contractor's responsibility and must comply with all applicable regulations. Trees and vegetation may be removed to provide access. Contractors may retain salvageable material. An invoice is required within 10 days of completion. Contractors must provide proof of liability and workmen's compensation insurance, with the City named as coinsured, and comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act if applicable. Contractors are responsible for repairing or replacing any damaged public improvements during demolition. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities.
