Site work for a detention facility in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade detention facility.

The project consists of designing the replacement of the secure perimeter fence system, associated vehicle and pedestrian gates, replacement of the inner fence security wire, and any required security enhancements. The design will also address site grading, utilities, and structural needs associated with the fence replacement, and include the removal of existing rocks between the inner and outer security fences to be replaced with concrete. Operational considerations for maintaining a continuous secure perimeter throughout construction must be included. The selected design team is responsible for evaluating existing conditions, recommending appropriate fence and security technologies, developing phased construction strategies compatible with facility operations, and preparing construction documents suitable for public bidding. Coordination with relevant security and facility staff, compliance with applicable standards, and quality control throughout the process are required. The team must participate in required meetings, assist with bidding, construction administration, and provide cost opinions and field reports as outlined. All documents produced are to be turned over to the State in their native computer format and PDF at the end of the project. Lump sum pricing inclusive of all reimbursables is requested and a breakdown of scope for billing purposes is required. Additional site visits may be proposed as needed. The designer is also responsible for survey work, coordination on utility shutdowns, and ensuring compliance with all codes and regulations.
