As of August 2026, an architect has been selected and the project is currently under design. A general contractor has not yet been selected and there is not an anticipated bidding date at this time. A firm construction timeline has not been set. The Parks and Recreation Masterplan project pertains to the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department. The scope encompasses the operation and maintenance of 132 parks, 18 recreation centers, 20 swimming pools, 12 splash pads, 3 tennis centers, 3 urban fishing lakes, nature trails, 190 sports fields, open spaces and undeveloped properties, special places, and hundreds of programs, including large special events throughout the year. The department also manages contracts with the Reid Park Zoo and five city-owned public golf courses. The work is intended to support and preserve Tucson's rich, multi-cultural heritage, with several parks and special places celebrating the community’s history. The project arises from the steady growth in residential and business sectors, which increases demand on park and recreation facilities. The department seeks to address these needs and further implement master planning efforts. Instructions to bidders: Bidding is conducted as a sealed process for both bids and pricing.
