The County of Calaveras invites qualified contractors to submit bids for the Calaveras County Museum Elevator Modernization Project The existing two-stop elevator, originally installed in 1978, is currently out of service due to significant deterioration of its electrical and mechanical systems, for which replacement parts are no longer readily available. A full modernization is required to correct the mechanical, safety, operational, and cosmetic deficiencies affecting the system. This project will upgrade the elevator cab, control systems, drive and operating equipment, and all associated safety components to ensure compliance with current code requirements, including ADA accessibility standards. Upon completion, the elevator will return to reliable, safe, and fully compliant operational service. The project includes all labor, materials, equipment, and services required to complete the work. The County of Calaveras invites qualified contractors to submit bids for the Calaveras County Museum Elevator Modernization Project located at 30 Main Street, San Andreas, CA 95249 The existing two-stop elevator, originally installed in 1978, is currently out of service due to significant deterioration of its electrical and mechanical systems, for which replacement parts are no longer readily available. A full modernization is required to correct the mechanical, safety, operational, and cosmetic deficiencies affecting the system. This project will upgrade the elevator cab, control systems, drive and operating equipment, and all associated safety components to ensure compliance with current code requirements, including ADA accessibility standards. Upon completion, the elevator will return to reliable, safe, and fully compliant operational service. Elevator Modernization - Mandatory Technical Requirements The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, permits, testing, inspections, and services necessary to complete a full modernization of the existing two-stop hydraulic elevator. All work shall be performed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local codes, including but not limited to the California Building Code (CBC), California Electrical Code (CEC), ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators, and ADA accessibility requirements. The Contract shall be responsible for verifying all field conditions prior to bidding. Hydraulic System Upgrades Remove the existing hydraulic cylinder and install a new, code-compliant cylinder and related components. Upgrade the power unit, including pump, motor, valves, piping, and associated hydraulic equipment. Cap and Interior Modernization Provide and install necessary elevator cab finishes, panels, flooring, lighting, and handrails to ensure all cab components and interior features comply with current safety and ADA requirements. Control System Modernization Upgrade elevator control system, including operating controls, dispatching functions, logic equipment, and related wiring. o Install updated system monitoring, diagnostics, and fault-reporting equipment. Door and Safety Equipment Modernization o Replace and modernize all door equipment, including operators, tracks, sensors, and required safety devices. o Ensure compliance with current fire, life-safety, accessibility standards. Fixture and Communication Equipment Upgrades o Upgrade hall stations, car operating panels, position indicators, and emergency communication devices. o Provide ADA-compliant signage, markings, audible/visual indicators, and communication systems. Site and Building System Improvements The Contractor shall provide all modifications required for a complete and functional modernization, including but not limited to: o Access and security improvements o Hoistway, pit, and counterweight work o Electrical system upgrades, including conductor runs, disconnects, and circuit breakers o Lighting improvements in the Hoistway, pit, and machine room o Machine room upgrades and required clearances o Convenience outlets and service receptacles o Fire alarm and communication system interface devices Testing, Inspection, and Commissioning o Perform all required testing, adjustments, and inspections per manufacturer specifications and governing codes. o Coordinate required inspections o Deliver a fully operational elevator with a valid operating permit. Documentation o Provide all as-built drawings, O&M manuals, inspection records, and required certifications. Warranty The Contractor shall provide a warranty covering all labor, materials, parts, equipment, and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date the operating permit is issued and the elevator is accepted as fully operational. o During the warranty period, the Contractor shall, at no additional cost to the County: o Repair or replace any defective parts, materials, or workmanship o Provide all labor required fortroubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and diagnostics o Provide all replacement parts, components, and materials necessary to maintain proper function. o Respond to service calls within the response times listed below: - Regular business hours: within 24 hours - Emergency/entrapment: within 2 hours Additive Alternate No. 1 -Additional One-Year Warranty Bidders shall provide pricing for an additional one (1) year warranty extension beyond the base one-year warranty. This Additive Alternate shall include all labor, materials, parts, equipment, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs equivalent to the coverage provided under the base warranty requirements. Pricing forthis Additive Alternate shall be listed separately on the Bid Form.
