The purpose is to solicit responses from qualified environmental consultants to perform a scoping study and site investigation for a closed, unlined landfill known as the Manhattan Landfill, Burlington Municipal Disposal Grounds, or the Burlington Landfill, located on Manhattan Drive in Burlington, VT. The area covers 34 acres in a low-lying marshy wetland called 'The Intervale.' The landfill was active from 1944-1986, except for 1950-1961. Leachate collection and methane gas venting systems were installed as part of the remediation plan, with requirements for groundwater and methane gas monitoring. Groundwater monitoring and reporting ended in 2010, and no environmental sampling has occurred since then.
