Planned modifications to this facility are a product of academic advancement, student needs, campus safety, ADA compliance, and infrastructure upgrades. Project Location: CT State Community College Naugatuck Valley, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT CMR Budget: 52,600,000.00 This Project's Scope of Work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: Kinney Hall at Naugatuck Valley Community is a four-level, 49,000 square foot facility constructed in 1977. It is the oldest building on Naugatuck's campus that has not undergone significant improvements. Planned modifications to this facility are a product of academic advancement, student needs, campus safety, ADA compliance, and infrastructure upgrades. Key accessibility upgrades include the installation of elevators, renovated restrooms, improved egress stairs, and barrier-free access. Renovations or Relocation of the Child Development Center to meet current licensing requirements, including evaluation of outdoor playgrounds. The full renovation with infrastructure improvements will include replacing end-of-life equipment and adhering to current building, fire, and accessibility codes, which are critical to the college's mission. Significant improvements include. New fire sprinkler system Upgraded fire alarm system Replacing all HVAC system equipment New BMS system Electrical upgrades, including capacity and distribution Replacement of electric service from the street New emergency generator Hazardous material abatement Roof Replacement, including the deck Relocation of campus police dispatch to Kinney Hall Window replacement Technology improvements The scope includes the full design and construction of a new approximately 10,000 SF building to house the relocated ECEC program, including new outdoor play areas including playscapes and vehicle parking/drop off area. The new ECEC building must be completed prior to the start of construction activities at Kinney Hall. Proposed location is in the stone lot to the northeast of the current location in Kinney Hall. Strategies for legislative and Governor's Executive Order # 1 energy efficiency requirements will also be integrated into this project, but it remains CSCU's intention to meet high energy efficiency state requirements. Upgrades to the existing heating and cooling system, served by the campus central plant, are required throughout the building, including new system components, piping, and isolation valves. The childcare area requires dedicated localized heating and cooling.
