Renovation of a municipal facility in Amherst, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Minimum rates of wages to be paid on the project have been determined by the Commissioner of Labor Workforce Development under the provisions of Sections 26 27, Chapter 149 of the General Laws. Each General Bid proposal must be secured by an accompanying deposit of 5% of the total bid. Deposits shall be in the form of a BID BOND, CERTIFIED, TREASURER'S or CASHIER'S CHECK payable to the University of Massachusetts. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive any informalities in or to reject any and all bids if it be in the public interest to do so. The Project consists of but not limited to: Fire alarm system replacement The work is estimated to cost $3,000,000.00. The applicable minority workforce utilization percentage is 15.3%. The applicable women workforce utilization percentage is 6.9%. Question Deadline 01/13/2026 at , 2:00pm All bidding Requests for Information (RFIs) shall be submitted online The work to be done under this contract consists of executing and completing all work required for UMA 21-07, JOHN ADAMS HOUSE FIRE ALARM UPGRADE 1. General Information a. The John Quincy Adams House is a 24-story dormitory building originally constructed in the 1966. The project generally consists replacing the existing fire alarm system with a new addressable voice evacuation and alarm system. b. The project includes asbestos abatement and handling of lead paint surfaces. c. The project includes a new bi-directional amplifier system including the construction of a 2 hr rated closet to enclose equipment. d. The Contractor shall provide the services of an HVAC technician as necessary to tie-in and test air handling unit shutdown. e. The Contractor shall provide the services of an Fire Protection technician as necessary to tie-in and test the sprinkler system. f. The building will be unoccupied during the construction. Construction will occur during the summer months. g. The contractor must maintain elevator recall of the existing elevator in order to use the elevator during construction. Temporary cabling to maintain the existing elevator recall devices must be provided by the contractor to allow demolition of the existing system. The elevators must be tested and certified by a state elevator inspector prior to use of the car for construction purposes. The work will include all operations necessary to deliver the building(s) and ancillary on and off site amenities in a fully installed and operable condition including all utility and site work and obtaining all necessary licenses, permits, and certificates. Where utilities exist within and adjacent to the building(s) and ancillary parking lots, and are known by the Owner, they have been shown on the site plan(s) appearing in, but not restricted to, the exhibits. Connections to these existing utility lines will be the responsibility of the General Contractor. C. The scope of work, without limiting the generality thereof, includes all labor, materials, equipment and services required to perform the work described fully in the Drawings and Specifications and includes, but is not limited to the following major work: 1. Construction including, but not limited to: a. Demolition of existing fire alarm system including all cabling and conduit. b. New addressable fire alarm and voice evacuation system. c. Bi directional amplifier system. d. Painting. e. Testing of elevator to ensure fire alarm recall. f. Testing of mechanical systems for fire alarm shutdown g. Testing of sprinkler system for fire alarm activation.
