The Cape Forchu Lighthouse, originally constructed in 1840, is one of Yarmouth's most iconic heritage and tourism destinations, set within an active coastal fishing community overlooking the working harbour. As part of the Cape Forchu Master Plan, the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth (MODY) is advancing a Parking Lot Expansion and Site Enhancement Project to improve accessibility, visitor experience, and site operations. The project involves the development of a new, expanded parking area at the Wentzell House site to better accommodate the growing number of visitors, enhance safety and circulation, and support the long-term sustainability of this historic landmark. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants has been awarded. Tender-ready construction specifications are expected by Fall 2026. Construction is planned for the 2027 construction season. Cost is estimated to be below $1 million. Project will be republished once tender from general contractors is issued.
