Construction of a new NCAA Division 1 tennis facility to support competitive play, athlete development, and spectator engagement. The project includes a 5,000 SF building with home team locker room, public restrooms, offices, and observation level; 6-8 regulation Division 1 courts with spectator seating, competition-quality lighting, and fence enclosure. The total project budget, including soft costs, is $5,000,000. The project is located on the UNCW main campus, west of Hamilton Drive near the Almkuist-Nixon building. The delivery method is design-bid-build, and it may be phased with courts and lighting first followed by building construction. The design team should include a NCAA sports facility specialist to ensure full compliance with NCAA Division 1 standards and best practices for collegiate tennis facilities. The current authorization is for Advanced Planning only, with potential retention through full design and construction at the University's option.
