The work consists of the removal and replacement of existing overhead doors at Public Works, Building D. The base bid includes eight doors, and Alternate No. 1 includes five additional doors. Bidding procedures are to comply with M.G.L. Chapter 30 Section 39M. Massachusetts Prevailing Wages apply, and all employees must have completed an OSHA-approved construction safety and health course of at least 10 hours. The contractor is to commence work after execution of the contract, certification of appropriation, approval as to form by Town Counsel, and issuance of a Notice to Proceed. The base bid work should reach Substantial Completion within 120 days from the start of construction and Final Completion within 15 days after. If Alternate No. 1 is elected, Substantial Completion for all work is required within 180 days, with Final Completion within 15 days after. Liquidated damages of $100 per calendar day apply for late completion. Each general bid must include a bid deposit of at least 5% of the bid amount and be accompanied by specified forms.
