Site work and new construction of a detention facility in Lihue, Hawaii. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 84,000-square-foot, 180-bed detention facility.
Design and construct a new rehabilitation-focused Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center on the designated Ma‘alo Road site, incorporating expanded housing of up to 180 beds along with program, recreational, agricultural, and support facilities to replace the outdated, flood-prone existing facility. As of January 27, 2026, the State of Hawai‘i continues planning and environmental studies for the new Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center at the Ma‘alo Road site, with completion still projected for 2030–2031.
