Site work and new construction of a detention facility in Lihue, Hawaii. Design plans call for the construction of a 84,000-square-foot, 180-bed detention facility.
Design and construct a new rehabilitation-focused Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center on the designated Ma‘alo Road site, incorporating expanded housing of up to 180 beds along with program, recreational, agricultural, and support facilities to replace the outdated, flood-prone existing facility. As of May 15, 2026, a design firm has been selected. Planning and design is underway. A timeline for construction has not been established, but construction is not expected to begin in 2026. Completion is projected for 2030–2031.
