The scope of work is to provide pick-up and disposal of residential garbage once per week at the curb for houses and apartments of less than five units within the Calhoun city limits. Apartments with more than five units should have a dumpster, at the discretion of the Public Works Director. No trash placed outside the container will be picked up. Residential addresses are limited to three containers and commercial addresses are limited to three containers. All residents must be provided service. All carts are to be furnished at the provider’s expense. Proposals should address how special pickups of non-garbage waste would be handled, including rate, lead time, and whether residents would call the company directly. The proposal should also specify if a second cart would be provided if requested due to habitual overfilling, and if there is an additional charge for cleaning up overfill debris. Additionally, the work includes pickup and disposal of approximately thirty-five commercial cans in the downtown area for customers without alley access, with pickups on Tuesday and Friday each week. Proposers should also address additional carts and pickup for special downtown events, and any charges for these events. Instructions to bidders: Proposals must be submitted in an original and seven copies in a sealed envelope clearly marked, “Residential Garbage Proposal for the City of Calhoun, GA.” Proposals must be delivered to the Purchasing Department, City of Calhoun, 700 W. Line Street, Calhoun, GA by the stated deadline. Late proposals will be returned unopened. Incomplete proposals may not be considered if the omissions are significant. All questions are to be submitted in writing by the indicated deadline. All questions and answers will be distributed via a formal written addendum before the submittal deadline. The evaluation of proposals will consider technical qualifications including company history and at least five years of continuous successful operation in the waste removal business.
