Site work and new construction of a military facility in Havelock, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a military facility; and for site work for a military facility.
Two offerors have been pre-qualified for Segment II: ECC Atlantic Construction and Walsh Federal. Segment II includes construction of the F-35 Sustainment Center, a 255,461 square foot depot-level hangar designed to support up to 20 F-35 aircraft. The facility includes hangar maintenance bays, four paint booths, administrative space, aircraft part modification and tool shops, and a secure area constructed to ICD 705 standards. The main facility utilizes precast structural concrete panels with a pile-supported foundation, slab-on-grade, and a cross-laminated timber roof deck. The structure is primarily single story with a two-story administrative component. Site development includes utility improvements to support the entire Hancock Village, construction of a taxiway with a bridge, and an aircraft parking apron. The project also includes a 105,755 square foot Composite Repair Facility, a new consolidated depot-level facility for advanced composites and rotor blade repair. The facility is organized into two major sections: a composite repair and manufacturing shop and an aircraft rotor blade repair shop. The composite repair and manufacturing shop includes a disassembly area, parts kitting area, production control and clean parts area, assembly areas with a climate-controlled dirty room, bonding room, and clean room, as well as depot and fleet classrooms and engineering and laboratory spaces. The rotor blade repair shop includes disassembly and staging areas, a dirty room, sanding pit, and bonding room. Shared support spaces include painting, parts wash, freezer, hygiene facilities, bathrooms, and breakrooms to minimize construction costs and improve sustainability.
