Bids will be received for the 2024-2025 Capital Improvement Program, Contract #1-Site Reconstruction at Jacob Gunther Elementary School and Newbridge Road Elementary School, by the North Bellmore UFSD. Complete digital sets of contract documents may be obtained online for a nonrefundable fee, or hard copies may be purchased for a deposit. Bid deposits for hard copies will be returned for good-condition returns, except for the lowest responsible bidder. Bids must be made on the standard proposal form as designated by the Instructions to Bidders, sealed in an opaque envelope marked with the bidder's information, contract name and number, and opening date, and addressed to North Bellmore UFSD. Each bid must include a security deposit of no less than 10% of the base and alternate bids. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, or proposals may be rejected at the discretion of the School District. Bidders may not withdraw their bids for 45 days after opening, except as allowed under applicable law. Under this section, the Contractor shall set up his necessary general plant, including shops, storage areas, office and such sanitary and other facilities as are required by local or state law or regulation. All work and materials shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. paragraph. Sections of the NYSDOT Spec., titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the construction Engineer. Under this section, the Contractor shall maintain traffic and parking and protect the Owner from damage to person and property within the limits of and for the duration of the contract. All work and materials shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of NYSDOT Spec. Sections of the NYSDOT Spec. titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the construction engineer. This section includes the provision of all plant, labor and materials necessary for the saw cutting of existing and removal of said pavement, preparation of the subgrade and the construction thereon of a sub-base course, fine grading, asphalt top course, recycled-in-place asphalt base course, seal coating, a tack coat where indicated on the contract drawings or so designated by the construction engineer. All work and materials shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec.. NYSDOT Spec. title "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Construction Engineer. Asphalt concrete shall be constructed to the depths, line and grade as shown on the contract drawings. a. Work to be done includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and services required to complete all irrigation work indicated on the drawings, as specified herein or both. b. The point of connection for the Irrigation system shall be as shown on the plans. c. All materials to be incorporated in this system shall be new and without flaws or defects and of the quality and performance as specified and meeting the requirements of the system. All material overages at the completion of the installation are the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the site. a. The irrigation system shown in the drawings and described within these specifications represents a centrally controlled irrigation system supplied from existing water supply. All required electrical work is also a part of this contract. This section includes the provision of all plant, labor and materials necessary for the saw cutting of existing concrete curb, excavation and removal of said curb, preparation of sub-grade and construction of new curb (including re-bars), where indicated on the contract drawings or so designated by the Construction Engineer. All work and materials shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. Paragraphs in sections of the NYSDOT Spec., titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Construction Engineer. Concrete curb shall be constructed to the sizes, shape, line and grade as shown on the contract drawings. This section includes the provision of all plant, labor and materials necessary for the saw cutting of existing sidewalks, excavation and removal of said sidewalk, preparation of subgrade and construction of new sidewalk (including reinforcement), where indicated on the contract drawings or so designated by the Architect. All work and materials shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. Paragraphs in sections of the NYSDOT Spec., titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Architect. Concrete sidewalk shall be constructed to the sizes and shapes, as shown on the contract drawings. This section includes the provision of all labor and materials necessary for the raising or lowering of catch basins and manhole frames, grates, covers and valves necessitated by the asphalt concrete paving operation. All catch basins and/or manhole frames, grates, covers and valves in the asphalt areas to be paved shall be altered to meet flush with the new pavement grades, as indicated on the contract drawings or so designated by the Architect. All work and materials shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. Paragraphs in sections of the NYSDOT Spec., titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Architect. Frames, grates, covers and valves shall be altered to the line and grades as shown on the contract drawings. Under this section, the Contractor shall repair areas damaged due to installation of new curbing, parking, drainage and other construction operations, which may disturb existing landscaped areas. All work and materials shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. Paragraphs in sections of the NYSDOT Spec. titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Architect. This section includes the provisions of all plant, labor, materials (including but not limited to excavation, back-fill, sheeting, concrete, bar reinforcement, frame and grates, pipe and pipe connections for the furnishing and in-stalling of all drainage structures (catch basins, man-hole, etc.) frame and grates, pip and any other drainage improvements where indicated on the contract drawings or so designated by the Construction Engineer. All work and materials shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of the NYSDOT Spec. Paragraphs in section s of the NYSDOT Spec. titled "Method of Measurement" and "Basis of Payment" shall not apply. Where the term "Engineer" is used in the NYSDOT Spec., it shall be construed to mean the Construction Engineer. In general, all drainage items shall be constructed to the sizes, shapes, line and grades shown on the contract drawings. a. Extent of pavement marking is indicated on drawings. b. Color of paint shall be White, Yellow or Blue. Lines used to designate the parking spaces and aisle shall be white. Symbols used to designate physically handicapped parking spaces and van accessible aisle shall be blue. o Building wide ceiling replacement Additional testing will be required if the scope of work changes or is different than reported above. A. Work under this Section is subject to requirements of contract conditions, drawings and other contract documents. B. Provide labor, material, equipment and incidents as required to furnish and install the following: 1. Acoustical ceiling panel units 2. Exposed grid suspension system including, but not limited to: wire hangers, fasteners, main runners, cross tees and wall angle moldings. a. Additional or larger size wires, as required to properly support lighting fixtures shall be furnished and installed by the electrical work installer under Division 16 (Electrical). C. Coordination: Coordinate acoustical ceiling work with installers of related work including but not limited to; building insulation, gypsum drywall, mechanical systems and electrical systems. D. References: 1. ASTM A366 "Standard Specification for Steel, Carbon Cold-Rolled Sheet, Commercial Quality". 2. ASTM A641 "Standard Specification for Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Carbon Steel Wire". 3. ASTM C423 "Sound Absorption & Sound Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method". 4. ASTM C635 "Standard Specification for Metal Suspension Systems for Acoustical Tile and Lay-in Panel Ceilings". 5. ASTM C636 "Recommended Practice for Installation of Metal Ceiling Suspension Systems for Acoustical Tile and Lay-in Panels". 6. ASTM E84 "Standard "Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials". 7. ASTM E413 "Standard Classification for Determination of Sound Transmission Class". Or 8. ASTM E1414 "Standard Test Method for Airborne Sound Attenuation Between Rooms Sharing a Common Ceiling Plenum". 9. ASTM E1264 "Classification for Acoustical Ceiling Products". E. Submittals: 1. Product Data: Manufacturer's technical literature and installation instructions. 2. Samples: Minimum 6" x 6" samples of specified acoustical panel - 1'-0" long sample of exposed wall molding and suspension system, including main runner and 4' cross tees. 3. Certifications: Manufacturer's certifications that products comply with specified requirements, including laboratory reports showing compliance with specified tests and standards. F. Quality Assurance: 1. Single Source Responsibility: To insure proper interference and color match, all acoustical panel units and grid components shall be produced or supplied by a single manufacturer. Materials supplied by more than one (1) manufacturer are not possible. G. Environmental Requirements: 1. The building shall be enclosed. The air conditioning system shall be operating with proper filters in place and the proper temperature and humidity conditions shall be stabilized before, during the following installation until Substantial Completion. Building areas to receive ceilings shall be free of construction dust and debris. A. The contractor shall provide a complete installation of all the electrical systems, electrical equipment, and fixtures as shown and as hereinafter specified, and/or required to make a complete and satisfactory operating electrical installation. B. It is not the intention of the specifications to describe or the drawings to show in detail all the various pieces of apparatus, equipment, fixtures and their connections. Furnish all equipment, material, and install all equipment in accordance with manufacturer's requirements and current standards of good practice. C. Provide and perform in a workmanlike manner all labor and materials necessary and, required in completing the entire electrical work as shown on the accompanying drawings and as outlined in the following specifications. All work shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code, all local, state and national codes and authorities having jurisdiction in this area. These organizations shall include but not be limited to the NFPA, New York State Building Code, The New York State Education Department standards of the New York Fire Insurance Rating Organization, National Fire Insurance Rating Organization, and the American Standards Association. D. The electrical contractor is responsible for the electrical demolition at the proposed site. The demolition shall include but not be limited to the removal of all unused conduit and conductors. Where existing circuits to remain are affected by the demolition, the electrical contractor shall rewire as necessary to maintain service to wiring not intended to be demolished. Revise panel schedule of affected circuiting, where applicable. Relocate any existing electrical equipment to allow for the installation of new equipment, as necessary. Coordinate demolition with architectural drawings and existing field conditions. E. Where new lights are to be installed on existing ceilings, the electrical contractor is required to relocate existing devices on the ceilings to accommodate the new lighting layout. Provide & install additional boxes, conduit & conductors to modify locations of existing equipment as necessary to facilitate the installation of the new lights. F. Where new lights are to be installed on new ceilings, the electrical contractor is required to relocate existing devices on the ceilings to the new ceiling to accommodate the new lighting layout. Provide & install additional boxes, conduit & conductors to modify locations of existing equipment as necessary to facilitate the installation of the new ceiling and lights. G. Where conduits and conductors are required in the floor, the electrical contractor is required to core, drill, cut & patch floor to the satisfaction of the architect. Where there is a floor below the work being done, the electrical contractor is responsible for replacing ceiling tiles, cutting ceiling / floor and fire stopping all new openings. H. The contractor shall provide all materials, labor, tools, supervision, etc. required to install complete operational electrical systems as described in these plans and specifications. Such installations shall include but are not specifically limited to the following: 1. New circuit breakers, fuses, safety switches, etc. as shown and specified. 2. New lighting fixtures & lighting sensors / controls, including all hardware & devices for mounting. 3. Modifications & extension of existing sound & intercom systems. 4. Cutting, chopping, rough & finish patching, including painting. 5. Removal & replacement of ceiling tiles required for the installation. 6. Temporary light & power for all trades. 7. Clean up & disposal of all construction material created by the work of this contract. 8. Cutting, channeling, coring and chasing required for accommodating the installation of electrical work and rough patching. 9. Maintaining operation of the existing base building systems within the contract area in accordance with the requirements of the School District
