Cleveland Metroparks is seeking bids from qualified Contractors for Rocky River Nature Center Shoreline Protection at Rocky River Reservation. Required qualifications include at least three previous projects involving stream restoration or in-water work similar to this Project . The purpose ofthe project is to provide bank stabilization to protect the existing Rocky River Nature Center along the west bank ofthe river. The 15,000 square foot center was originally constructed in 1971 and sees over 190,000 visitors per year. All bids in excess of $10,000 MUST BE accompanied by a "Bid Bond" executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio as required by Ohio Revised Code Section 153.571 or a certified check, cashier's check or money order, drawn on a solvent bank or savings and loan association in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid, and made payable to Cleveland Metroparks, as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into, its performance properly secured and shall be in a form the same or similar to the form included in the bid documents. Bids submitted in excess of $10,000 without proper bonding requirements will be found nonresponsive and disqualified from consideration. In the event that the bidder cannot satisfy the bid after Cleveland Metroparks awards the bid, the award will be given to the next qualified successive bidder as identified by Cleveland Metroparks and the difference in cost and all related costs to the difference will be assumed by the original bidder and/or its surety. The deposit or bond of the successful bidder will be retained until the contract is properly executed and delivered. Bid guaranties of all unsuccessful bidders will be held until a proper contract is entered into or until all bids are rejected, as the case may be, and will be returned immediately thereafter. The successful bidder shall be required to file, at the time a contract is entered into, a Performance and Labor and Materialman Bond written on an acceptable surety company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio and in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. In the performance of all contracts, contractors will comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to Equal Employment Opportunities. Cleveland Metroparks is a governmental agency exempt from all local, state and federal taxes. No bid may be withdrawn for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. Cleveland Metroparks reserves the right to reject any or all bids and parts of any and all bids and may waive technicalities, which are not substantive components of the bid as determined solely by Cleveland Metroparks. Written questions must be submitted online Scope :- The work consists ofthe construction of a new armor stone revetment with 3 curved groins at the base ofthe Rocky River Nature Center overlook along the Rocky River. The revetment and groins will consist of 32- to 42-inch toe stone and ODOT Type "A" armor stone. Toe stone and armor stone will be natural stone only; the use ofrecycled Portland cement concrete as armor stone or toe stone will not be allowed. The channel will also be dredged to the shallower of 644' NAVD88 or the top ofthe existing bedrock to redirect flow alongside the Nature Center. The estimated dredging from the riverbed will generate 650 cubic yards. Dredging will remove granular material only; removal of bedrock will not be allowed. All excavated material will be reused as earth fill between the curved groins and vegetated with riparian vegetation, with 464 cubic yards of material below Ordinary High Water (OHW, 650.5 feet NAVD88) and 186 cubic yards above OHW. No excavated material will be trucked out ofthe Rocky River valley for upland disposal.
