Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Virginia State University, Virginia. Completed plans call for the construction of a educational facility; and for site work for a two-story above grade educational facility.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall build the new +/- 32,000 GSF VSU Student Wellness building according to the drawings provided. The building has a two-story volume that includes wellness areas, dance and exercise studios, and an indoor multipurpose basketball court. The exterior material palette includes brick masonry with an architectural precast concrete base. Full height aluminum curtainwall openings, along with punched window openings, are incorporated to allow natural light to come into the building. A translucent wall system, to reduce glare, will be used on the upper level of the multi-purpose basketball court. The roof will be a single ply membrane with aluminum panel/framing system to screen roof top mounted mechanical equipment. For bids less than $500,000, the requirements for a bid bond are waived for prequalified contractors in accordance with 2.2-4317.
