Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Charlottesville, Virginia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 72,500-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
This project is to construct a new 500-student elementary school in the Mountain View Elementary School district, as recommended in the Mountain View Facilities Master Plan Study. It is assumed that the site will have public water and sewer available at the property line. The project shall be LEED certified and comply with the Virginia High Performance Buildings Act. The assumed building size is 72,500 square feet (500 students at 145 square feet per student). Project is included in Albemarle County Fiscal Year 2026-2030. As of January 7. 2026, groundbreaking was in February 2025, construction underway and the school is set to open for the 2026–27 academic year, with completion and occupancy scheduled by Fall 2026. Design team and contractor identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
