Remodeling of a mixed-use development in Dubois, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the remodel of a theater / auditorium.

As of February 10, 2026, the project has not yet awarded. It is anticipated to be awarded on February 26th by the school board. The DuBois Area School District is receiving bids from qualified vendors for the DuBois Area High School Auditorium Theatrical Curtain and Rigging Improvement Project. Proposal specifications may be obtained by contacting the Administrative Center at (814) 371-2700, 500 Liberty Boulevard, DuBois, PA 15801 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Proposals will be received up to 2:00 P.M. on February 4, 2026. The project consists of the replacement of the main curtain and border, conversion of curtain operation, rearrangement of onstage rigging, replacement of selected battens, and related removals, relocations, and adjustments as specified in the Invitation to Bid. Bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents shall make a written request which shall reach the District at least six (6) working days prior to the date for receipt of Bids (receipt of all questions must be in the District's possession no later than January 27, 2026 at 2:00pm). Questions must be submitted in writing to DuBois Area School District's Business Manager, using the contact email jburiak@dubois.school. Response to questions will be in the form of an Addendum provided to all bidders by 5:00pm on January 30, 2026. This project includes the replacement of the main stage curtain and borders, conversion of the main curtain from motorized to manual operation, rearrangement of onstage rigging, replacement of selected battens, and related removals, relocations, and adjustments. The work is intended to improve functionality, safety, and performance capability within the auditorium. 2.1 Replacement of Main Curtain and Main Border A. Main Curtain o Quantity: One (1) bi-parting main curtain consisting of two (2) panels o Approximate Dimensions: Each panel approximately 17 feet high by 25 feet wide o Fabric: Crescent Velour, 20 oz., Inherently Flame Retardant (IFR) o Color: To be selected by the District o Construction and Finishing: o 50% added fullness o 3-inch webbing at top with S-hooks o 5-inch chain-weighted hem at bottom B. Main Border o Quantity: One (1) main border o Approximate Dimensions: 4 feet high by 44 feet wide o Fabric: Crescent Velour, 20 oz., IFR o Color: To be selected by the District o Construction and Finishing: o 50% added fullness o 3-inch webbing at top with ties o 5-inch chain-weighted hem at bottom C. Border Batten o One (1) steel pipe batten for the main border, including all required hardware, chain, and beam clamps D. Removal and Conversion o Removal of existing framing legs and all associated hardware o Conversion of the main curtain from motorized operation to manual operation, including: o Removal of the existing motorized drive unit o Furnishing and installation of all required manual operating hardware, rope, and accessories E. Projection Screen Relocation o Relocate the existing projection screen approximately 8 inches upstage so it is positioned behind the new main border o Raise the projection screen several inches if required o Realign the projector, if necessary, to accommodate screen adjustments F. Optional Add-On (Alternate Pricing) o Black Avora IFR liner for the main curtain: o Sewn to webbing at top o Ties at edges o Loose at bottom 2.2 Rearrangement of Onstage Rigging A. New Borders 1. Border in front of 3rd Electric o Approximate Dimensions: 4 feet high by 63 feet wide o Fabric: Crescent Velour, 20 oz., IFR o Color: Black o Construction and Finishing: o 50% added fullness o 3-inch webbing at top with ties o 5-inch chain-weighted hem 2. Border in front of Cyclorama o Approximate Dimensions: 3 feet high by 63 feet wide o Fabric: Crescent Velour, 20 oz., IFR o Color: Black o Construction and Finishing: o 50% added fullness o 3-inch webbing at top with ties o 5-inch chain-weighted hem B. Battens o Two (2) steel pipe battens for new borders, including all required hardware, chain, and beam clamps o One (1) steel pipe batten for scenery installation, including all required hardware, chain, and beam clamps C. Rigging Reconfiguration o Swap locations of 1st border and 1st legs so the border is in front of the legs o Move the 2nd Electric downstage o Swap locations of the 2nd border and full-stage black so the border is in front of the full-stage black o Move the 2nd legs to a position behind the new border at the 3rd Electric o Move the 2nd full-stage black upstage to a position behind the new border at the cyclorama 2.3 Replacement of Battens and Pipe Upgrades Replace smaller battens with 1 1/2 -inch Schedule 40 steel pipe, and add pipe to track clamps as needed, at the following approximate locations: o 1st Legs - 63 feet o 1st Border - 63 feet o Midstage (1st) Full-Stage Black - 63 feet o 2nd Legs - 70 feet o 2nd Border - 63 feet o Upstage (2nd) Full-Stage Black - 70 feet o Cyclorama - 80 feet
